Intermittent high idle

Postby allfix sweden on Sat, 28 Jan 2017 3:56 +0000

Anybody else has problems with the idle go up to 1100rpm sometimes, doesnt matter if engine is up to normal temp or not, it acts like the warm up button is pushed but it isnt. No warnings or info on display and toyota cant find any codes or faults when computer is hooked up.

Maybe the DPF is regenerating? Does the 2.4 have a DPF? What about the air conditioner? That will cause the idle to increase.

i searched and it seems like more people have this issue, apparently its a "soft" regen for the dpf, really annoying since it only goes up when you stand still, so when you roll up to somebody crossing the street, idle is 800rpm, once you get to a complete stop and let people walk over idle goes up to 1100. and they all wonder what kind of idiot i am trying to scare them over....

I've had this happen twice now, first time at 800 km and again at 1150 km
Both times was at the end of one hour driving at 100 kph in 35-38c temps.
The exhaust temp was enough to burn the hairs on my arm a metre away
I've bought this vehicle for farm work and now I'm worried it will start a fire like the petrol catalytic converters of the 80's did
Seriously Toyota, no way should it be doing a regen above 30c and 4wd should lock it out as well
I'm thinking about a DPF delete before I start a fire
I haven't talked to the dealer yet but the OP got no answers so I'm not hopeful

You will have trouble finding someone that will delete it. Apparently the fine is over 30g if a company gets caught doing it I've looked into it as I also think its annoying!
