engine light

Postby Greg B on Tue, 13 Dec 2016 4:18 +0000

Hi, I'm a new member with a problem, I had the codes read and it showed up as the right bank rear oxygen sensor, so I replaced both rear sensors with genuine one's and I still get the same codes, The Lux has 200,000 km's on it and I've just done the service so new spark plugs ,air, oil and fuel filters. Once cleared the engine light comes on after about 40min around town or straight away when you get to about 100kph. It doesn't seem to be driving any differently. Any idea's on where to look next. 4L V6 2005 Hilux 4WD

Try cleaning the airflow sensor first. Otherwise could be a clogged cat.

If your reader has a live view have a look at the data to see whats triggering it.

Thanks I give that a go, I'll have to go into town to get some contact cleaner, I don't have a reader but these a local workshop that can do that for me. is contact cleaner the best thing to use or should I get something else.

MAF cleaner is recomended but people say its identical to contact cleaner with a markup.

It should take 2 mins to get the sensor out. I think there was two sensor wires you need to blast if i recall.

Anyway give the whole thing a good blast and let it dry for at least 15mins before starting the engine.
