2009 SR5 soot blowing from exhaust on start up

Hi guys,

Only yesterday my 2009 hilux sr5 started blowing black carbon soot onto my driveway on start up. What could be the issue here? My guess is injector timing? The motor still performs as it should when driving, no issues at all and no unusual rattles from the injectors.

turns out it was a carboned up intake manilfold & EGR valve not working as it should (both being seen to @ toyota) all claimed under warrenty the guy at toyota suggested i enquire about the "ash" content of the oil next time i do an oil change to help prevent this issue. vehicle has almost done 100,000km
