My dealer recommended changing oil at first 1000km check. I had to pay for oil but gives you peace of mind.

True, my dealer does not think its necessary to change until 10,000km, even after I explained my long trip towing a van !!

I'd highly recommend oil changes every 5000k
New DENSO Injectors are the go! New genuine parts.
Cheers, Anth - Technician - 1KD-FTV

Check your injectors about every 10,000k.
WARNING check oil pickup screen is clear
no chips no tune ups - why increase risk of piston cracking?

My oil was done at 1000,3000, 5000 and then 5000kms after that

I would do it now and again at 10,000, just make sure they stamp the rear of book
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

I always change my engine oil & oil filter at 1000km. Any existing "swarf" fromm manufacture still floating around would be picked up.

I also change my rear diff fluid for the same reason and will change my front diff fluid at 1500 after putting some running in kays offroad in H4 by then.

The engine oil is synthetic diesel.....realistically, you shouldnt need to change it every 5,000km like the older mineral based oils used to require unless your using her hard id say.

and at every 10K service I replace the fuel filter....its cheap peach of mind to ensure its always clean.

Even on a new 2.8? Seems a little excessive to me. Our service intervals on tractors are 500 hours nowadays, same with stationary motors, although some are still 250 hour intervals on older pumps. I do agree with 5000km on the older Hilux utes, it's what I did, but I'd have thought it wasn't necessary on the new gen diesels, the highest km new gen diesel we have is a Jeep Grand Cherokee with 150k on the clock and it's never had an issue & service intervals are something like 15,000km.

If your oil dont manage 10k at regular road use, try another brand. I go Castrol. Changed my oil first time at 5 k, then 11 and now at 20k. Workshop use 0w-30, as deliverd from factory, i use 5w-30 because it,s cheaper and within specs in manual. No oil consuption and never had ha dpf light so far.

Just as a FYI in the industry I work in they have doubled the service intervals from 500 to 1000hours per oil change! According to oil analyses the oil is just making the hours and really starting to breakdown.

1GD-FTV. 10,000kms under normal conditions.
In QLD I am using Penrite DL-2.
The southern states in winter, I would run Penrite C-2.
The Roo.
Passing through country and seeing country are two different things.

What spec oil do you use? 5W30 as recommended or 5W40/0W40 oil?
Isn't 5W30 thin for a Diesel?
