Egr vsv help please

Postby babajangas on Thu, 26 May 2016 12:48 +0000

Hey peoples I was just doing some tests on the lux with a snap on computer when I stupidly took it for a drive (idiot) while testing the egr vsv not realising I still had an active test going on . As I drove heard a bit of a pop now the car is whining not sure if it is the turbo or engine itself .checked all vac hoses they seem to be good I'm now wondering where I should be looking or what will need replacing to get her back to normal any help much appreciated
Cheers matt

Hasn't just blown the reg on the alternator? They can make an awful whine! Just a thought if it's still running fine??

Regulator/ rectifier is part of the alternator. It regulates the voltage and converts the power from ac to dc. Stick a meter on the battery and see if its charging.

Pull the hose off the inlet to the turbo and give the shaft a wiggle to make sure it doesn't have any end float.

Picked up a second hand one for free :D was using a snap on engine diagnostic tool I turned of the egr vsv I didn't read the bit that said ignition on engine off took it for a drive and it must have sucked something into the turbo exhaust wheel oh we'll lesson learnt wont do that again
