exhaust upgrade & DPF

It's bound to do something, I remember it making a reasonable difference with response on my old 06 hilux. I can only imagine the restriction in the dpf. We removed a dpf off a 560hp Detroit western star at work and the driver said it was a new truck. Pulled like a 2 dollar Thai hooker.

Well, interesting. In QLD you have to go over the pits every six months. A lot of the other states have similar laws in place for the truck you are talking about.
Are we talking about a DD15 in a 4900?
Didn't you have some problems with that vehicle of yours, I seem to remember?
Removing the DPF system on one of these trucks would cause all manner of problems, including a huge fine.

what vehicle are you referring to? My old 06 hilux? Yea I had minor issues? With BDG....all which were ironed out in the end. I was referring to the increase in low down torque when I removed the rear muffler...no relevance to this conversation. The 4800 western star was a yard truck which never left the docks...whether it was illegal or not, I didn't make the call to remove it. If you saw the heavy machinery on site without dpfs, EGRs and all that hoohah, removing the dpf on a yard truck is like pissing in the ocean to try and raise the tide. They couldn't justify spending thousands on a yard truck to fix the dpf. When it's someone else's call and someone else's truck who gives a fk really.

In SA. No truck / prime mover needs to be inspected unless accreditation changes are made and/or gvm gcm are changed and / or a road side inspection deems necessary.

Are there any exhaust companies releasing a full exhaust system with DPF yet?
I know Taipan XP have released for other car models but can't find anything for the new Hilux.

This is why I hate buying new models!! haha

Taipan XP have now pushed back their 3" version for the new Hilux to February 2017.

Wish I could be rid or this silly dpf business.... was taking off from the lights last weekend as the dpf kicked in.

Just so happened I glance in the rear view mirror, and was totally shocked to see this dirty big brown contrail that was enveloping all 3 lanes of traffic behind me!

That was as embarrassing as letting go of a big hearty fart inside a crowded elevator, and finding you're the only person that didn't get to hear about because your hearing aid battery has ran out.

Good choice gipsy.... my first reaction was to try get away the cloud of muck I dropped as quickly as possible, but doing that only made the brown stuff following me much bigger and dirtier. All too shitski - I always said I'm afraid of no other man - but this was one time I was totally all flight and zero fight.

The green diesel engineering GDE tune costs $1k and gives 50+kW and 100+ torque as well as dpf delete all through a DIY OBD2 tune.

You Blokes get it easy here in the UK we only get the 2.4 and its Euro 6 with DPF and SCR ( Adblue)!!!!!

Fitted a 3" DPF back exhaust yesterday with muffler delete, I had a hard time finding info on how they sounded etc before I purchased. So anyone that's wanting a sound upgrade I suggest you download an MP3 of your favourite exhaust note, If you play that through your audio system it's about as good as it gets. No real change in sound from interior. Yet to have someone drive it for me, however I don't have my hopes up..

Hey blokes. I've been looking into this lately as I am getting a Unichip fitted and tuned soon. As with my last Lux I was keen to do the exhaust as well. For what it's worth, I've been speaking to one of the blokes at Unichip Australia who have an N80 for R and D and they spent a lot of time doing a DPF delete. Apparently they were quite disappointed as there was hardly any improvement at all when tested With no DPF. In the end they said they were surprised as to how little restriction the DPF actually provided and it was certainly not worth paying for a delete if you are running a standard engine. This surprises me and goes against my limited understanding.
Plus I've been keeping an eye on the Navara NP300 page and they've had so many ongoing dramas after deleting DPFs that they are trying to get them reinstalled lol.
Like I said, just for what it's worth. Just sharing what I've heard so far.
Personally I am getting a DPF back exhaust, EGR block and Unichip live dyno tuned. I will ask them if they can do a dyno run before and after exhaust first if possible to see if it yields any better results to report back with.

Having the very problem with mine. Too much drama doing a turbo back system so in the end just got an exhaust shop to cut the muffler out, 70 dollar job, same effect as a bolt on kit, breaths a bit better, almost un notacable with noise increase which is a bit of a shame as a bit of a growl is nice. Guess just have to wait for a high flow turbo back system with dpf comes out on the market (if there is such a thing). Moral is don't waste your money on a cat back system just cut the muffler out and unless you are a computer genius don't mess with the dpf or un install it as it can cause huge dramas.
