As above. Talked to a guy with a current model TRD, Says its the best thing he's done milage and power wise.
Fines are big if caught, but here in Wait Awhile, we don't have the every year inspection (blue slip).........yet.

So i guess a cop would really have to know what he's looking for.

Then theres the on selling issue, warranty, legality involving insurances, etc, etc, etc

For mine the whole DPF thing just sucks, and has only made a hardy, work horse motor, more fragile.

just think it's going to be too easy to get caught if you pull it out.

correct me if i'm wrong but it's any current navara/hilux with a good turbo noise/ exhaust note missing the DPF?

... but seriously I’d say more to do with how motivated they are to find something wrong than how bright. They might be more motivated in the future by a policy to check for the dpf, or by your attitude.

Cheers

Over here in Germany there is a new biannual check now, that examines the exhaust gas for particles. The simple plug and check via OBDII is obsolete after 2017. I think there will be some trouble for some guys.....
The announcement of the new procedure came out a few days ago - not much time for reactivation of the filters....

I doubt they will find anything with the OBDII check, as it only checks for error codes

However i read today about a guy taking his car in to toyota in australia for a recall. He got a call back quick fast where they said no warranty at all on the car, and that they had to report him to the authorities as it was illegal and if they didn't report it they would get fined as well.

Isn't a recall a recall?? Nothing to do with warranty!

Oh wait... If the dpf was removed then that's another issue! That would void warranty and raise the issue of an illegal vehicle!

Particularly stupid, unless they know what they are looking for. ( tip off)
Cops can work out if you're doing 80 in a 60 zone......its not that hard.
Pretty good at reading a breathalyser as well.

But are they going to ask you to lift the bonnet ?

When was the last time you lifted the bonnet of a car for a cop?

DPF's are relatively new, but it will catch on.

We are a little fortunate here in WA as we don't have the every year inspection, (self regulatory) like the eastern states, and ill just bet they know what to look for

Yes. Cops enforce the law
