power from battery to tub...

i use a 4x1 2,5mm (diameter) cable to bring power from battery to the tub.

i wanted to power on 12v plug and usb power adapter to connect a dashcam to the rear glass (1st line) and the tub led strip (2nd line) https://www.newhilux.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=121&t=31884

.. just have two more lines for other uses (rear lights for example)

so i started connecting the 4x1 cable to the battery, and then to a fuse box in the engine bay (incredibly fitting two existing holes, just add two threaed rivets) then i re-start the 4x1 cable under the engine, along the chassis untill the tail light cavity.
At the top of cavity there is a small hole to bring power inside the tub. Here i use some threated rivets and a small alluminun shiet bended to follow the tub chassis to fix a 12 power plug + double 5v usb plug.

Neat install but very lite wire for a ciggy type socket, expect a reasonably high voltage drop if you plug a fridge in.
Any loads that will run comfortably through your 5 amp fuses should be ok assuming they draw half or less than 5 amps.

martynvella i use a multipole 380 V (4 poles) cable, everyone of 4 wire is 2,5 mm in diameter (copper without insulation), so they are 5 mmq almost (AWG20)

should i used a bigger cable for ciggy socket?
i thinked that it was enough...

thanks

See how the voltage holds up when it is under the load of what ever you run off it. You could always double them up to the socket and that would share the load over 2 fuses. That type of fuse holder is prone to get heat damaged connections if cheap fuses are used that have thinner legs than spec.

I like the idea of putting your volt meter at the socket end of the cable run so you get a more accurate reading of whats at the socket and not at the battery.

yes.. seems legit :)

i'll try with my fridge to check voltage asap...

thanks

It is a good one isn't it. Gotta keep it mind for future reference.

Bit of an afterthought here too. If the meter is accurate enough it'll also show voltage drop of the appliance being plugged in next to it.
