Unknown Pre-wiring

Unknown Pre-wiring

Postby MexLux on Tue, 14 Jul 2020 11:50 +0000

First of all, I want to say hello and thank any member for answering this. For a little background, I'm writing from Mexico and I own a work spec'd Hilux (GUN126L-DTFXHF). Currently, I'm planning on doing some mods to it.

I was looking through the forums and I got interested on mounting some fog lights (I believe mine comes with Pre-wiring since it has the plugs tucked behind the bumper and a 10A fuse where the steering wheel is) I couldn't find the switch plug (which I know must be green).

The only ones I could find are these

I hope I could receive some guidance here since I'm stuck trying to put the fog lights on.

Thanks!.

I've not heard of manufacturers pre-wiring for driving lights or fogs lights before, but these days I guess they're trying to improve the product they're selling. Not being familiar with this one, my only suggestion might be to check and ensure you're using the fog light wiring for fog lights and the driving light wiring for driving lights. Traditional "Bulb" lights will draw very different amounts of current for each application.

MexLux, Gipsy ask me to post this for you. He's apparently having trouble posting it for some reason.

Rob, I can't seem to be able to post this but maybe you can cut and paste?
From what I understand from others here on newhilux, the wiring is there for foglights but you need the light stalk on the steering to make them live, the stalk is different on Sr to sr5. That said, the wiring for the switch must be there in the loom that goes into the steering column. If the fuse is there then the wiring is nearby. Check out an sr5 light stalk to see the extra switch. Mass manufacturing nowadays means that the wiring looms usually remain the same for most models rather than making a different one for every model.
Cheers Gipsy :D

Thanks Rob ;)

Dunno why I couldn't post it, I keep getting the dreaded 'FORBIDDEN' message... Maybe the mods can tell me why I get that? Posted ok today though :?
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.
