Towbar Wiring Harness

Towbar Wiring Harness

Postby specwarop on Sun, 10 May 2020 9:15 +0000

Hey all,

I am looking to install the Towbar wiring harness to my late model SR5 and was wondering what options people have gone for?

There seems to be a number of options from Milford, Ironman4x4 and even Genuine, ranging from $180-$300. There also appears to be a cheap version on eBay around $80. Which is the best?

The Milford one looks like it comes with relays, whereas the Toyota genuine one appears to have an ECU for it. Then the Ironman4x4 version has neither....gets a bit confusing, they all are listed for my Hilux model, but are different kits....

Any help appreciated.

I would go for the Toyota genuine wiring to keep the warranty happy. Plug and play with the Toyota kit.

go for the genuine kit , it adapts into the factory wiring , albeit with some fiddly connector pin removal , but at least its well protected by fuses and you wont have any chance of damaging the cars body ECU.

Awesome thanks for the feedback.

Does anyone know where to get the genuine part number to suit my model?

Oh and does anyone have the instructions handy for the Toyota kit?
