Wiring colours

Postby Sandman777 on Thu, 02 Jan 2020 3:26 +0000

Hi guys, I’m new to the auto wiring so I’m sorry if this is a silly question but I bought a wiring harness for my spotlights and it has a blue/black and white wire for the switch that came with the harness. I want to replace the switch with a light force one but the switch has different coloured wires. Red/black/blue and yellow. I’m not sure which ones to join together.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Hey Sandman777, most switches that are suited for vehicle models and such have all sorts of extra's such as illumination and sh*t

you can wire in the illumination if you like or you can just forget about it, its not needed to make it work

All you need is the power in and power out

The black will be for power for the lights inside the switch

Grab a multi-meter, set to continuity and press the switch in and out, find what has a closed loop when the switch is pressed in

Great thanks Robbie98!
I thought there would be a couple of wires that wouldn’t be needed.
Thanks for the info mate.
