Ignition Source For BCDC

Ignition Source For BCDC

Postby Ash81192 on Fri, 06 Dec 2019 4:56 +0000

Hi guys,

I'm going to install a Redarc 1225D BCDC charger under the bonnet using Redarc's new Hilux mounting bracket. Where are people tapping into under the bonnet for the blue wire variable voltage alternator trigger (12v+ ignition source)?

Cheers

I don't usually hook it up as it'll switch on and off on it's own anyway according to the redarc guy I deal with but there sould be an ignition source in the engine bay fuse box you can put a piggyback fuse tap into. If not run a wire through the firewall behind the glove box and piggyback off the wiper fuse in the fuse box under there.

I run a wire from the ignition through the firewall to near the battery and use it for multiple things.as a lot of the standard wiring is pretty light.

I've used ignition source from the wire running from the starter, where I've hooked up an additional immobilizer and a GPS unit. It is in the side panel, just next to the pedals.

Checked the fuse box behind the glove box which seams to only be hot when the ignition is on so I'll just run a wire through the grommet in the firewall right next to the fuse box

I've mounted my BCDC under the glove box. Keeps it cool.

Hilux cig circuit is always a safe bet. If you mess it up you only loose your cig sockets not something important like a ECU etc. and it’s in the white fuse box under the glove box. So super simple to get to.
Jumper fuses are your friend for these type of installs
