Mounting fuse box

Hi,

Has anyone ever mounted a fusebox in the empty pocket up behind the left wheel arch?

Its half out of the way, might get a bit wet, but the panel doesnt appear to have any debris/ splash marks etc from the last 10k driving bitumen, dirt, wet roads etc.

Space is perfect size to fit something like the attached.

Thinking could run fused 8b&s to it from main battery, then split off anderson into tray, anderson to trailer & leave a good junction point to add any extras to tray, lights etc.

Not stressed over dual battery setups etc. yet.

Cheers

I can't offer you much in relation to the fuse box idea, location...

But.

Stopped by just to say nice MS paint skills. ;)

It would be possible and outta sight but gotta consider changing the fuses / ease of access for accessory lines... maybe an access panel cut into the inner tub skin?
No creek crossings in the distant future? Mounting above the tray line would help mitigate water ingress
Sorry, can't see your last image on mobile

Made my day... I knew there was a reason I signed up for this forum.

ALSO, temporarily mounted it there to see. Would be nice to find a waterproof unit. Its as high if not higher than the headlight leveller on the rear suspension & another electronic box ?brake controller"? up in the rear.
Creek crossings up to axle line is the max for me. More sand a possible issue.

If its no good, ill move it.

WOW these are big pictures... I'll edit & try again.

Please note only the Anderson plug is connected at the moment.

Anderson plug in rear of tray. Wires fed up & through opening under the top rail near the rear.

Nice one. Good to see someone think outside the box
It may still get fairly wet and full of crud in that location but that unit could fit into a water tight box like a junction box you can get from bunnings - just a matter of sealing up where the power feeds in and out.
Possibly easier and more reliable to mount it inside the tub with sika flex where the Anderson plug is then run output power from there

Quick update on this. After 3mth. Mostly highway. Few weeks rainy highway and couple hundred k of wet corrugated dirt road.

Works a treat. I'm actually really surprised at how protected this area is from the elements. Even 200mm water crossing wasn't enough to hit it. There is the expected bulldust etc but that's it. I've washed the rest of the car but not this area. It's hardly worse than the original photos tbh.

Easy enough out of the way something different install.

I'll let u know again after we hit some sand in the future. That'll really test it.
