Rheostat for new gauges light wiring

Rheostat for new gauges light wiring

Postby BCH on Tue, 08 Oct 2019 5:31 +0000

I have a new set of VDO gauges in a pod on the A pillar in my 2007 SR5 Dualcab. The auto sparky was asked to wire the gauge lights through the factory dash light dimmer, but said it wasn't possible because the VDO lights are incandescent and the dash lights are LED, so the existing dimmer is not compatible.

Is there a work-around for this? Or should I be looking for a separate dimmer just for the pod gauges (and what kind)?

There is a dashlight dimmer trigger wire in the factory head unit loom, You should be able to use that.

Hope this helps.

Either that or you could power the lights in the gauges from one of the dash lights for the Switches possibly? (Im not sure if that will work)
