Light bar install - Retro-fit Switch

LED Light Bar Install

Postby coosh on Wed, 10 Apr 2019 8:33 +0000

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if I can get some assistance. I am installing a light bar. I bought a new wiring harness: http://tinyurl.com/y4wfzybw - This kit also has the HB3 connector so it works in sync with the high beam. I am removing the standard switch they supply and replacing it with one that fit in the spare switch spots: http://tinyurl.com/y5qxpk5x

I have wired up everything on the relay side: E.g. Power/ground/plugging into headlight & light bar. Just need assistance with the switch wiring.

So just need a hand with matching the wires:

-HARNESS-
BLACK WIRE (HARNESS) - GROUND
BLUE WIRE (HARNESS) - POWER
WHITE WIRE (HARNESS) - ACCESSORY
---------

-SWITCH-
BLUE WIRE (SWITCH) - POWER
GREEN WIRE (SWITCH) - RELAY OR ACCESSORY
YELLOW WIRE (SWITCH) - DASH LIGHT CIRCUIT
BLACK WIRE (SWITCH) - GROUND

---------
Please let me know if my assumption below is correct:
CONNECT BLUE (HARNESS) & BLUE (SWITCH)
CONNECT WHITE (HARNESS) & GREEN (SWITCH)
CONNECT YELLOW (SWITCH) INTO FUSE VIA FUSE TAP TO WORK WHEN DASH LIGHTS ON
CONNECT BLACK (HARNESS) TO BLACK (SWITCH) AND GROUND IT ON A BODY GROUND

Is my assumption correct?

Thanks guys!

Light bar install - Retro-fit Switch

Postby coosh on Fri, 19 Apr 2019 11:55 +0000

Hi,

Looking for some help I am installing a light bar.

---------

-SWITCH-
BLUE WIRE (SWITCH) - POWER
GREEN WIRE (SWITCH) - RELAY OR ACCESSORY
YELLOW WIRE (SWITCH) - DASH LIGHT CIRCUIT
BLACK WIRE (SWITCH) - GROUND

I have tried everything but can't get it to work. It works fine with the supplied switch but can't wire it to the custom one.

Hi Coosh, you may need to check what's happening on the 3 wires (black/blue/white) with a multimeter. Don't assume anything. If you've connected the harness to the vehicle correctly, you should have 12v on one cable when the highbeams are ON, one cable should have a constant ground and the other should be supplying the coil of the relay.
