High idle in low range

High idle in low range

Postby kris.s on Sun, 17 Mar 2019 3:03 +0000

Ive searched and searched , seems like i might be the first with this issue .
-2015 hilux sr dual cab manual gun126r N80-

Only in low range(fine in high 2 and 4) when i select any gear and let it run just on idle it revs up to 1000-1100rpm which is very anoying especially since it has 285s and is all ready too fast in low gears. When i clutch in it goes back to 750-800

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated!

Don't suppose you just chanced it trying to do a DPF burn-off at the time?

Thank you for a reply.

Definitely not during a burn . I just tried doing a ecu reset
(Disconnected negative , pumped brake pedal and let it sit for 30min) and still the same . If someone could try on thier manual sr or sr5 and see what rpm it would be great .
Im getting a feeling it might be due to the anti stall nonsense.

I test on my flat driveway(Only going in straight line) - select low 4 , put into 1st low
And release clutch no throttle and it starts rolling 750rpm then creeps to a 1000-1050 rpm

Maybe a function of the ECU load sensors?
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

Maybe . i would think 4 low would have the least amount of engine load and shouldn't require more throttle?
here is a quick video i made showing the issue .

If anyone with a manual sr or sr5 could try if theirs acts the
same to see if its normal, i would really appreciate it.
