Going to put a second battery in under the bonnet (lead acid) just to run a engels off of.Should I let it be charged all the time or let it go flat every couple of months to try to extend battery life.Cheers in advance.

Letting the battery go flat is the worst thing you can do if you're talking about a standard lead acid. Every time you do this, it will shorten its life. They are designed to be constantly topped up. A deep cycle battery would be better if you plan to discharge it a lot but even they have their limitations.

Never let any 12v battery get below 6v. Only bad will come of it. Keep it topped up mate and as I've said b4, check the warranty details of the battery you get as some warranties are void if thr battery is placed in an engine bay.

Century 105A lead acid deep cycle with dual battery controller. If the fridge is running all the time you’ll want to use a solar or other charger to keep battery topped up unless the car gets used a lot during the day. It would be better looked after though if you have a quality solar regulator with load terminals and a permanent solar panel on the roof, this way the battery gets a good charge profile.
