Dual Battery System Design

Hi all,

Has anyone got any pictures of dual auxiliary batteries (2 aux and crank battery), that they have mounted in the tub of a dual cab SR5?
I'd like to mount them both in a bracket over the rear right wheel arch, but can't find a bracket of this type.

My final setup would look something like:
Dual Aux batteries in rear tub (100ah each)
Redarc BCDC1240LV
Redarc Relay Kit RK1260 (for solar and alternator input)
160w Solar panel
Linked with correct fuses and 6B&S cable
This would be to run all the usual 12v camp gear, lights, plugs, usb, fridge etc. I'd like 2 aux batteries for greater capacity.

Any pictures or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Why do you need the relay kit when the 1240 has an inbuilt solar input?

You need a changeover relay so it swaps from alternator to solar when you turn the ute off. Theyre about $10 from jaycar

If ya get the new redarc charger (cant remember the part number) it has all the solar stuff built into it. It will charge on whatever is producing the most power, alt/solar.

I've been told with 2 auxiliary batteries, the 1240 will give a better charge than using a 25 amp version. Also, due to the new alternator in the N80, I believe the LV model is required. Thus, using a 1240LV model, an external relay is needed.

correct me if I'm wrong?

Nah with the new system you can choose from three different cut in/cut out voltages depending on the battery you are running. Regardless of what the alternator is doin, it does its own thing.

Be keen to hear if you found a solution? I couldn’t in my searching, and decided to make this myself.. Houses 130Ah AGM, 20A Solar regulator, Fuse Box with plenty of room for Chargers and Inverters down the track. Bolted to the tray and lockable which was important for me with only a soft Tonneau.
