Toyota Head Unit Display/Toyota Link

Toyota Head Unit Display/Toyota Link

Hey all

Brand new owner of a 2017 Hilux SR Dual Cab Cab Chassis here..

Just wondering if anyone knows in the new hilux are you able to use Mirror Link at all? Usually on Android phones, allows the phone to get mirrored to the head unit, allowing you to run mirrorlink enabled apps on the head unit, even interacting with it.

I notice these guys allow an install of GPS nativgation and hema maps onto the stock unit, and they tout no opening of the unit, or spicing of wires. Just wondering if anyone knows how they are doing this!!

Also ive seen there looks to be options to display video somehow to the unit, as it has A/V options for PAL or NTSC...

Any knowledge people can share would be great - I would love to hack around in this unit and get it to do more :)

Hi darth
Ive got a 2017 sr duel cab chas too. I was looking how I could get gps working on it too, and the a/v too.
Have you found anything out about it yet? That gps looks good but damn its expensive!

Ive found some info about getting video up on the screen, but not interacting with it (which i thought was useless).

Ive gone with the next best thing, and ive mounted an ipad mini so it sits just above the stock unit (using a RAM Mount) and mine is one with cellular so it has all GPS stuff built in. I installed Navigon, and HEMA Maps so have a fully functional unit.

I also started to get into the OBD2 stuff, and have OBD Fusion software getting temps and stuff from the car (will take a pic next time I have it setup)

I took a quick look , it seems that the headunit needs to have a MicroSD slot for that to work , and mine doesnt have that slot.

Yea those were using hacks in the toyota link software that dont exist in the 2016/2017 head units (as far as im aware)..

The other option (though around $1300) is to put one of the Kenwood units in...

I think ill stick with my setup for now...
