Tailgate not locking from central locking

Tailgate not locking from central locking

Postby dan@biali on Wed, 01 Mar 2017 1:08 +0000

Mine definitely used to lock from the key fob with the central locking, but today I unplugged it to fit a reverse camera and now it only locks and unlocks from the key in the handle. Is there a little trick to getting this working again? I've tried holding the key in the locked position whilst locking and unlocking using the buttons but that didn't work.

I'm completely sure mine never has used the central locking.

Good idea but it didn't work. I've had a look at it and whats weird is it doesn't have any electrical connections going to the handle or the mechanism and now I'm doubting whether it even had it! I could have sworn I had unlocked it from the key fob.

I think you probably dreamt it unless the UK market Gen 8 has a tailgate lock that Aus doesn't. There must be an electrical conduit for the reversing camera if you have that.

The only electrical connector goes to the third brake light. Maybe I thought it was unlocking every time I pressed the button. But as I said, could have sworn it was locked, I blipped the key and then opened it. Getting forgetful in my old age! Might have to suck up my pride and call Toyota service dept.
