Did a hid update on my last ute. Fantastic Worked great you can buy plug and play just need to find somewhere to place balast. (Plugs into an existing headlight lead then is much like wiring driving lights except it powers a ballast to get high voltage which then connect to replacement bulbs which just swap into existing fittings) I was running 50w high low beam (equivalent 150w halogen). Catch unless you can find self leveling ones, you will get pinged come rego time. (Personal experience) Luckily its only a 10min job to put it back if you get a plug and play kit. I got mine off ebay about 6 years ago and ran them for 5 years before anyone cottoned on. Also tried 100w hid driving lights but the delay time after you dip your lights drove me crazy. (Great on back roads shit where there was traffic) They have to charge the ballast each time switched on. This was not a problem with the headlights as they stay on and a magnet moved the position of the bulb when you go from high to low and back.

The standard lamp is a HB3 60w. You can get higher wattage halogen lamps if you just want them brighter. There are heaps of LED versions on Ebay.

What about fog lights ... has anyone changed the globes or the lights all together ??

What globes are they ?

Or what lights did you place there ?

It's pretty average work from Toyota to have hid headlights low beam then have halogen high beams and fog lights that throw out a different colour light.

Fog lights use a H16 19w Halogen lamp. Once again, Ebay lists heaps of LED versions. The main headlights use an LED light source, not HID, so it should be easy to find matching LED lamps for the high beam and fog lights. I would use something around 6000K colour temperature for the best match.
I agree that Toyota should have used matching lamps for the other lights. Even my genuine bulbar has LED lights on it.

As the saying goes "you learn something new everyday" I thought the main headlights were HID.. my bad. And thanks for pointing out that they are LED.
My partner bought a RAV4 2016 the hi Lo headlights are colour matched ..its so much better to drive with at night where high beams are needed.

Thanks for the advice on what globes are needed.
