I was thinking of getting rid of these plug n play headlight shit and just getting ther solder out and cutting into the high beam and wiring up like that, my only question is the 2 wires running back to the relay from the headlights ( see picture) im guessing i only need one of these to the high beam switch, does one get grounded?

I already have constant power hooked up from the relay, so red goes to globe and black goes to high beam by the sounds of things

The relay will need 2 constant powers one on 30 and the other on 86. The put the high beam wire thru a switch to 85 and this will give the relay an earth to turn on.

Thought I think you will find h4 and h3 plugs look the same but have high and low beam connectors on opposite sides so they will fit the plug but activate low instead of high and vice versa. Check that you have the right one.

Go to Jaycar buy the $5 multimeter. 4 pin relay . 2.5/ 4mm cable plus connectors
Get helper.
Plug multimeter into the left/right pins of headlight connector
Get helper to turn on high beam
Multimeter should go from 0 to 12+ volts
If not negatively switched continue testing until you get 12+ volt on high beam
Wire relay trigger off these inputs IE 85/86
Wire 87/30 for feed to LED from battery and run Earth to body/negative on battery of can not find good Earth.
