Please help identify a wire

Please help identify a wire

Postby Andy87 on Sun, 01 Jan 2017 4:01 +0000

Hi guys.

I had a mate hook up a reversing camera for my in my lux. He hooked the power for the screen up to a small connector under the gear shifter (auto trans). Why I don't know but that's what he did. This connector hooks up the the underside of the gear selector. It currently has no power. Before it had power when key was switched to on and reversing camera worked fine. Everything works, all fuses are fine. But this connector no longer has power. Please help me identify what this wire is/does so I can try to fix it.

Thanks
Andy.

So what's the issue if everything is working fine? It's probably the reverse wire to trigger the camera?

No it's the screen power feed, reverse is triggered of the tail lights. Problem is this cable that he's tapped power off no longer has power to it. I'm wondering if something has been damaged. More interested to know what the cable does more than anything.

Not a light wire on the shifter possibly?

I'd say its for the light on the shifter too, won't have power if the lights are off.

not that I can help if it is a 2016 model, but a little more info would be helpful for those that can, like what colour wire is it?

there are plenty of places at the fusebox to take power for the screen , no need to go to the gearshift . i would say he has blown a fuse . have you checked all the fuses under the white cover?

This might help identify what the connector is.

You say it connects to the underside of the gear selector, which could easily make it the Transmission Control Switch, which is used when the Shift lever is in the "S" position.

Hi guys. Sorry for late reply. It was the light for the great shifter. And as smdoherty said, doesn't work when the lights are of. Cheers.
