Postby Jarrodwales on Wed, 28 Dec 2016 4:23 +0000

Hey guys
Just wondering if any knows where / or if the 2016 hilux come with a plug and play for a electric brake controller
Will save a lot of time then having to find all the cables to connect to and run??
Thanks

only ever seen american vehicles pre wired for brake controllers, and then the battery supply is fused so wouldn't comply to Australian regs.

There may be other manufacturers doing it but haven't seen any.

its not plug and play in my experience. in fact its a little bit more work as the brake signal has to be picked up after the towbar ECU.
I ran a separate feed to the accessories fusebox for the +12 supply.

Its not plug and play. I just ran power from the battery with a 30a self reseting circuit braker under the bonnet. Then ran a heavy duel core cable straight to the plug on the back, one wire for the brakes and used the other to pick up the brake signal from the plug. Heard of things not going right if u get brake signal from the brake pedal itself.

We got the info on the new redarc kits the other day and yeah they are 290! Think I'd rather just do it the old fashioned way!
