Dual Battery Wiring Options for Accessories

Dual Battery Wiring Options for Accessories

Postby Andyfive on Wed, 16 Nov 2016 6:39 +0000

So I have read through most of the posts i can find on here.

I have the Redarc BCDC1225 and Solar Regulator and ARB tray so far.

Plan is to run cables to a Merit/Ciggi point into the left rear of the tub for my fridge and led lights whilst camping etc.

Im just not sure the best place to run an Anderson point for the solar panels as I have never had them before. Any suggestions on a good location?

I am also thinking of running another anderson plug to either in the tub or near the towbar to power a Camper trailer or third battery. Any suggestions.

I need to figure this out before i drop the truck off at the auto electrician on Tuesday.

Seeking advice as Im a relative newbie.

I installed mine next to the towbar , and use it mainly for the air compressor when required.
for the Solar , in theory the run needs to be as short as possible , so maybe next to the battery would be the best place , unless you want one sticking out of the bumper somewhere near the number plate.

no matter where you install them , make sure they have decent waterproof covers .

Hi Mate, I did something similar

Just ran it inside the chassis rail with split conduit.

I am going to run another one for the tow bar Anderson plug, just dont need it yet.

I also popped a dual USB charger into the rear seats, this build thread gave me good ideas

Thats looks great, ill do that in the tub. Im surprised there's enough depth for the plugs to install there. Ill look at the thread thanks.

I think ill run the solar plug out the front.
