Automatic Mirror Retraction

Hi Adam , ive not built this as yet - but on your diagram im not sure which side goes to the door and which side goes to the body ( or control switches ).

ive noticed that on my car if i fold the mirrors in manually , when i start the car they fold out again automatically.
taking this into account would it be possible to simplify your circuit to just have a "fold in" function , thus letting the car auto control the "fold out" ? if you know what i mean.

Numberplate, the associated wiring is from the junction box in the driver's footwell going into the door. The pictures of the connectors on the left are the junction box connectors. The lines leading off to the right represent the wiring going into the drivers door.
When you say you are manually operating the mirrors, I'm assuming that you folded them in before turning off the ignition, after turning off the ignition, you put the switch back to normal, then when you turned the ignition back on, the mirrors come out?
The circuit is already using the vehicles original 12v supply to fold out the mirrors when the ignition is turned on. My original design did just involve using the latching relay and it worked perfectly. We are effectively using the 12v supply going to the door locks to operate this relay (lock). When the door lock supply is reversed (unlock), the relay resets back to it's original state. Trouble is, when you are driving, what do you think happens if you lock the doors? The mirrors fold in while you're driving! Not a good thing.
The solution, was to interrupt the door lock supply to the latching relay whenever the ignition is on. This is why the second relay was added. Hope this helps.

Adam.

thats perfect mate thanks for your clarification , i didnt study your diagram properly , i can work it out easily now.

sorry i should have clarified myself - by manually operating the mirrors , i meant i got out of the car , locked it , folded the mirrors back by hand ( was in a tight parking spot ). when i restarted the mirrors unfolded themselves.

As a matter of fact, I did orginally think about mass producing as a plug and play kit but I was having trouble sourcing the OEM plugs. I did find the part numbers though, but they weren't listed on Toyota Australia's database. I may have been able to order then from overseas but I gave up in the end due to lack of time.

i was thinking about one myself but chose to wait , just in case the wiring / plugs on our models are different to the LHD models ( Revo ) sold in Thailand.

Are people interested in purchasing these if I manufacture them? I might be able to do plug and play with only one additional cable to connect to a 12v supply. This might add a bit of cost to the kit though. I'll work out a price.

Hi all, I have fixed my Dropbox links and now the images should load. I have fixed the original schematic which now has the correct black and white central locking wires pictured.
On a side note, sorry to disappoint, but I don't think I'll be able to make these kits from a legal standpoint.
