Redarc dual voltage gauge

Redarc dual voltage gauge

Postby truarn_75 on Sat, 09 Jul 2016 8:08 +0000

Hi has anyone else installed a redarc 52mm dual voltage gauge for their dual battery system? I've having trouble with some of the wiring. Had a good look on the forum but can't seem to find where to tap into these wires:

Park light positive wire
Dash light negative wire
Ignition wire

I'm using the following diagram: https://www.redarc.com.au/Content/Image ... Manual.pdf

Any help would be great cheers

You can get a negative and positive park light wire on the back of any of the switches in the dash. An ignition source you can find if you piggyback off a fuse on the fuse panel behind the drivers kick panel.

You wouldn't want to mount any higher than this there's the curtain airbag at the top of the a pillar.

Redarc dual voltage gauge

Postby gold member on Sun, 10 Jul 2016 8:55 +0000

I have the original Autron version of this gauge Image
I just tapped into one of my rocker switch Park light wires and tapped the Acc line into the ignition under the dash as Toyz says. The 2 battery wires I ran through directly to each battery as there was plenty of length on them but in reality you could tap into an accessory feed under the dash depending on what battery they run off, but I am not sure how many accessories you have.
Cheers

Gold member did you have any issues getting the backlights on the gauge to dim with the headlights on? Mine don't seem to dim so might have to buy the redarc enhanced lighting controller...I'm assuming the dash light negative wire can just be hooked into earth too.

Yeah they are bright! I looked into dimming kits or adding a resistor on the dash light line in to dim the backlight but in the end I set the backlight to the blue colour and found that was far better on the eyes for night driving, I just couldn't justify spending even more money on it after paying so much for the gauge initially.
