12v ignition source for sr5

Postby mad_industries on Wed, 08 Jun 2016 9:00 +0000

I'm chasing a 12v ignition source for my redarc charger.
everything under the bonnet has power to it constantly.

Any ideas where to find it in the new sr5?

Cheers

In the fuse box behind the driver's kick panel. There should be a couple of spare slots.

Hi You might be better to take out the glove box there is a fuse box on the left hand side look down towards the first two slots up from the bottom both of these have 12 with ign switched on (check with test lamp or multimeter) LOOK closely because both slots only have fitted terminals on the right hand side of the fuse holder there are no fuses in them,( mine is manual gear box not sure if auto gear box is different) get one of those plug in fuse expanders that has a tap out wire you only need to use a 3 amp fuse in them because the current draw of the Redarc for ign activation is only 20ma. This is what I used on mine, just another tip ,you might put a cable tie around the plug in fuse expander because there is no terminal on the left slot to hold it steady.CHEERS :)
