long distance lights install

Postby patton on Wed, 16 Mar 2016 4:03 +0000

Hello all, i am trying to install myself the long distance lights. I bought a pair of ironman and they got a simple switch but i prefer to do it with a newprotech one. so i have many diagrams to choose and a little know how about car electricity.
my car is a 2011 double cab model.

this is what i found related to the switch

this one came with the ironman lights

the point is, i want the switch to stay dark when off and lighted when is on.
and in europe the light should be on when the high beam is on also. i have the relay and lots of wires...lol

where i can get the high beam wires under the dash? thanks

Sorry for my poor english and thanks for the help!

Best way is to put everything under the bonnet and just run the switch wires into the cab then you can simply pick up the high beam wire at the back of the headlight. Don't forget that the hilux has negative switching lights too!

You should be using fig 2 as I think the Hilux is negatively switched. You can verify this by applying a multimeter to the highbeam socket. If there is 12v there constently, it's negatively switched. The Newpro Tech switches will have 2 illumination lights. One is the backlight, usually 'Spot Lights', which is wired to dash lights, while the other which is a small rectangle LED, will operate with your highbeams and with the switch in the ON position. If you want both to illuminate with the highbeams, you can parallel them together.
