I believe Gen8 Hilux is Euro VI emission rated (at least the 1GD-FTV)and have ECU Controlled Variable Voltage Alternators
These engines will require the LV variant for 1225 and 1240 models

I have a genuine dual battery kit and it comes with a Redarc BCDC1220IGN if that helps.

Haven't confirmed myself but on the dual battery thread one of the guys mentioned he had rung redarc and they had confirmed that the standard dc-dc charger would work fine.

I have put one of those volt meters in the cig lighter plug for a few days and it reads fairly constantly between 13.9 and 14 volts.
I assume this would be the same or close to the alternator output unless there is some kind of booster or something in the circuit?

I did the same in my previous Ranger and it would drop to 12.5V under load from memory.

Not sure if there is a difference, but I ripped out my CTEK 250S out of my 2009 and put it straight into my 2016. No probs, working fine (so far)
