Thanks all Scott
I forgot to mention that you will also require some lugs for the fuse block, part number is PZQ85-89670. I have ordered mine and are still on back order. Waiting on Toyota Australia to add them to their system. Some people have mentioned that they had these included with their car but mine did not have any.
Slightly off topic, but if you have a genuine towbar fitted then the installer usually uses one of the auxiliary lugs that is supplied with the vehicle for the power supply to the relay module. The rest of them probably end up in the bin. Thats what happened with mine anyway. The salesman got me another packet sent out so I'm happy

If you could have put in a Redarc bcdc1225 instead of a 1220,
I think that you could have connected your solar straight to it as well to charge it up.

Hey adam, Just looking at your finished photo, Is that a fuse that is mounted on top of the battery? If so is the fuse between the main battery n the redarc?

Scott you are correct. Here is the wiring diagram. I just noticed it says BCDC1220IGN on the diagram. Maybe it does have this model. I don't remember seeing IGN anywhere on the charger.

A very need set up Adam, especially the hidden wiring looms, I used the ARB battery tray and can vouch they can take up to an N70, a really good quality tray and easy to fit, although you must be very happy with the end result of your dual battery set up..Very Tidy.

Gusmanelec wrote:Hey guy's if you want a bigger battery u can go for a pirana tray and they suggest an Exide LCS 27-79 battery which is a 97Ah. Also the battery has a support that comes off the top of the battery clamp, so you have additional support ontop of the bolts on the bottom of the tray, it doesn't move in the slightest. Price wise they tray was $215 but I got 15% off so got it for $182.75, Battery was $159 from anaconda on sale, just got to pick up the redarc dc-dc charger n make up some cables. Cheers

Adamkberger thanks for the toyota p/n for the fuse panel, when I spoke to toyota they had no idea and were going to call me back, still waiting, so I called them n told them. Cheers

Thanks all Scott

I have just purchased the Pirana tray with a Redarc BCDC1225 charger. How did you mount the charger to the bracket? Did you cut the horizontal top plate off the charger bracket or installed it in a horizontal position under the plate.

Mounted the bcdc1225 on the side as far forward as I could like on the photos above, mounted a Anderson plug for the solar panel input on the top plate as far forward as I could, behind that mounted the relay to switch between solar and alternator. I'll take a photo and add it to my shed profile tonight.

Doug Iv'e posted the photos in to my shed profile.
I have not finished the install as yet, still have to hook into ignition power.
Adam that started this thread pointed me in the direction to get the toyota installation instructions for the factory dual battery "toyotamanuals.com.au/accessories" and type in the part number PZQ8589560. I am trying to track down the pin to fit into the wiring harness to pick up the ignition input (It will all make sense what I am talking about when you read the install instructions)

Just noticed a typo the battery part number was LCS27-97 not LCS27-79.

Scott

Thanks heaps. Good information. I will try installation manual. There is not much space available around the tray. I will take some photos of my installation. In regards to the Pirana tray I found all the 6mm holes too small and needed to be drilled out to fit the 6mm bolts. Not an issue to do but thought they would punch the holes to the correct size.

Thanks for the info. Doug

Doug,
I had to do the same. I also found that the holes to mount the bracket to the tray were a pain as they are counter sunk by a press so the bottom of the tray is not flat, I used a couple of big washers to space them apart so it was flat. washers were about 70mm diam and a couple of mm thick.

How tight was it getting your battery in.. Did you untie some of the wire looms. I bought a Century N70T which is equivalent to the exide LCS29-97. The specs show it being minutely smaller if anything.

It was a bloody tight fit, a bit of swearing involved. It's even harder to get back out. You have to wiggle it around a bit, make sure you push the harness that goes through the the fire wall to the side like the Toyota instructions mention and try n lift up the back of the battery a bit so it is a bit more level n push like shit.

Have fun

Doug,
Finished the install, could not track down the pins to fit into the factory harness plug so spliced into the harness to pick up ign power. Only stuffed one thing up, to feed the the power from the main battery I used a midi fuse that can fit into the standard battery terminal, to bolt the midi fuse in do not use screws or bolts like I did n break the plastic, you need to get some square head bolts, I am going to go to Toyota next week n see if I can get some from there as well as a new battery terminal piece. If you look at the existing midi fuse that feeds the aux fuse panel u will see what I mean.

Good luck
