Another thing I've noticed with some of the deep cycle batteries, some of them have NO warranty if mounted in the engine bay!

Is it cheaper to buy a second battery kit through Toyota or one through ARB and build one yourself ??

Not sure but the arb one will hold an n70 size battery where as the Toyota one only holds a small 10inch battery I'm pretty sure.

The Toyota genuine tray is the same tray as the ARB tray. I have been informed that ARB make the Toyota genuine tray. Also, Toyota have decided to sell the tray by itself without the kit if you didn't know.

Part Numbers..

PZQ8589575 - Clamp Brackets - $35.18
PZQ8589572 - Battery Bracket - $134.78

Hi Sugaris You may be right about ARB making the Toyota Tray I Don!t know. However they are two entirely different trays. Toyzx in his post above is spot on about the size ARB will take an N70 battery (100 Ah) the Toyota tray will only take the small (65Ah) battery & as has been said before on this subject anything less than 100 Ah is just a waste of time, & the place where Toyota are fitting the BCDC charger is poor design it will get too hot there & start shutting down. CHEERS.

$180 for ARB tray which are second to none
$300 for redarc bcdc1220
$50 for fittings, cable, connections.
$200 for an n70 battery

Can confirm the Toyota genuine tray does not fit a blue top Optima battery. Get the ARB battery tray from ARB. $168 I was quoted.

Guys I have just installed my new bcdc charger into my 2.8 d4d it is running a AGM 70 battery I have connected both the main cable and blue ignition cable to the main battery then the brown to the positive on aux battery and black to the negative. It doesn't seem to be working as the agm light on the panel stays solid for about 1 min then starts flashing with no other lights.

I have read through here and got mixed opinions on where the ignition needs to be wired.
Can any one confirm for the new model. the charger is bcdc1225

A quick read of the manual tells me you are ok to connect the blue cable to positive constantly. However, it will not charge until the unit 'sees' a voltage of greater than 13.2v. Obviously the vehicle would need to be running for this to occur. You stated that you connected the black to negative. Can you be more specific? The unit should be earthed to the body along with the auxiliary battery. I'm assuming you have left the orange cable disconnected for an AGM battery?
