Anyone thought of removing the tailshaft to the front diff, as i will only use the 2wd all the time i was considering taking it off and see if this makes any difference to the amount of fuel consumption.

Well.. yes it would make a difference..

obviously if there is less load to spin the tailshaft then there will be more economy.. but... you're front diff (pinion gears etc) will still be turning because of the front wheels.. and you'll have dirt / muck issues.. and youll find that the entire system was balanced for BOTH tailshafts not one, so you'll probably wear out your Universals quicker..

My lux is my daily ride, and melbourne CBD im still getting 10/100 (better if i use freeways).. which is still a heap better than most vehicles on the road.. And thats stop start traffic..

I reckon you're better off getting free wheeling hubs.. although you probably wouldnt be able to get any for your rims..
