Rear Trutrac fitted

Postby seanr72 on Thu, 14 Jan 2010 5:59 +0000

Well i bit the bullet and had a truetrac fitted to the back of my hilux yesterday so will be interesting to see how much difference it makes at Coffs.

Dont like the idea if putting a locker in and having no lsd at all and the thought of constant air leaks etc would piss me off no end.
Might go the E locker path in the front when there released depending on how Drew's unit goes.

Was a little interested to find out if many other had bearing issues with there diffs?? the pinion and carrier bearings in mine where rooted after only 80000 k,s.

Cheers Sean

Max,

Yeah thats right there a mechanical lsd and work 100 times better than the std type unit that wear out in 30 seconds.
The more load you apply to them the better they work, i have one in my street car which makes plenty of power and there great to drive and you dont no theres anything different driving it.
My mate at Aussie diffs has seen these do 60 and 70k ks with no issues what so ever.

Yeah Max you do have to remove the C&P. It's not like a Lock-Rite, it's a complete new carrier.

seanr72: Why not Trutrac the front as well? Then at least you can still steer.

I really like the one in my Landcruiser because it's working all the time and has no effect on steering. And it's off-road only.
Hilux one it still sitting in a box on the back seat....

Hi Sean72 how you going?
I was interested in the TrueTrac and see you put one in back in January of this year but not much follow up from your post since. How have you found it performs. Like you I dont fancy having an open diff and having to judge when I need to lock the diff manually and maybe when not required. ;)
Cheers,
Ozeblue.

Ozeblue, cant say a bad word about it mate, done 40k so far and its still the same as when i put it in, no noise, no air leaks.
I have found u have to adjust your driving style a little to suit it when off roading but i luv it
Would highly recomend it

I'm interested in these, as the current LSD is starting to show signs of age and an air locker is not suited to what I want.
Sean, can you please keep this thread updated as I know a lot of people are interested to see how these go.

ok, so in the OP it said 1200 fitted...how much is the unit by itself? This is an option to go with the ARB front and still be driveable everyday.

I wonder how they go getting into the power around corners?

It's only a matter of time before my LSD starts saying, "Look d**khead, I'm only gonna spin the inside wheel, alright??!!"
