I rang a few brakes places today to get some prices on discs etc...one guy said he recently did a kit with AP Racing 6 piston calipers and 343mm discs on a hilux...now that will stop it!

No pictures but I can tell you the price....$4750.00 inc gst. and they are nice enough to let you pick red or black calipers. :o

Well that's quite an outlay of brakes isn't it.... :( To pay near 5 grand on new brakes there would have to be a dam massive upgrade in stopping power and feel!

I am guilty of having put these on a HSV Clubsport I owned....braking was incredible to say the least. The 6 piston AP kit is now the optional upgrade on clubsports and standard on the GTS HSV i think. Im not so sure how it would work on a Hilux as far as brake balance front to rear is concerned. Cant say i know a whole lot about the technical aspect of it i just know that they look would look awesome!

To be honest, the guy who fitted this is either over compensating...or he has some serious performance built into the hilux that requires the stopping power....if its the later, Id love to hear the details.

Prado front brakes are more than enough to pull up the hilux....matching Prado rear end would be awesome ;)

150 series will fit but they are bigger again than the 120 series. You'll need to run 18" wheels for prado 150 fronts to work.

My 150 GXL runs 17" wheels so I'd say 17" is ok

Hmmm... I had the choice today between 09' 150 series callipers and 08' 120 series ones. I chose the 120 series ones due to the fact that apparently no one makes after market (slotted) rotors for the 150 series prado yet.
Will be putting a new set of RDA slotted rotors with a pair of Bendix pads on soon.

This is a really good thread and I hope I haven't missed the question I am about to ask, sorry in advance if I have. Does the latest 2011model Hilux with standard 17" rims (steel or sr5 mag) have the same size rotors and discs as the previous 2010 on 15" sr5 mag rims.
Thanks Freddy

Negative on that one dute, can't make an upgrade as they can't get a hilux to do all the testing on and it's abit difficult with the 4wd hub assembly. Shanon (manger) mentioned maybe a bigger brake booster to clamp the pads harder. Otherwise to some Dba slotted rotors and decent pads...
