Any of you lot seen the unit that runs off ya power steering system? Gets rid of the booster altogether! Marjs adapters or someone like that does them.

Are the Vigos same as Hiluxes? I am asking about 2007 4x2 Vigo in particular. They seem to come with a 5 hole rotor and a smaller center bore. What kind of calipers do these have?

Also called Hilux SR5 I think. These also have 5 hole wheels like in the clip below.

Same deal as the 120 brakes just a bit more expensive for the rotors, the only difference is the thickness of the disc and the caliper is larger than the 120

I bought a modified PBR (Aussie made!) VT-VY era booster today that is a straight bolt in, just pushes the master cylinder about 20mm forward. It suits both diesel and petrol 2005-2011, would probably suit 2012-2015 as well. It has the fitting for the diesel's switch or a plug in it for the petrol engine. Will fit it in the next few weeks. The brake place I got it from fitted one to a diesel KUN26 last week and said it transformed the vehicle on standard brakes.

Doesn't look too hard to fit at all, will probably just have to unbolt the ABS module and move it forward a bit with the master cylinder to get the old booster out and new one in. Might also have to temporarily move the intercooler fluid reservoir but that is just two bolts. I reckon it should take maybe an hour and a half tops.

You only need to change the booster if you put the Prado disc brake rear end in. Vacuum etc is perfect with the bigger rotors. I’ve been running the setup for 10000ish Kms now with no problem and awesome braking

I’ve had the TRD (120 Series ‘cruiser) front brakes on my 2011 for about 50,000km and it definitely needs a bigger booster. The brakes work well but too much pedal effort is required especially if stopping in a hurry.

Interesting... where did you get the booster from?

Not sure who makes them - they are machined on the pushrod to be the same as a Hilux and the nose is changed to suit the Hilux master, plus the sensor fitting added for diesel application. But I bought it from Stopmaster Brakes in Gateshead. Stopmaster thought they were 80 Series but when the box was opened we realised it was Holden, which is better as it is more boost and Aussie made so rebuild parts will be easier to get locally.

hI all
just wanted to confirm 150 series prado discs and calipers work on LUX 8-)

had 120 discs and calipers did a deal with mate for my old calipers and dropped some extra cash on
150 prado calipers from wreckers and T3 Dba rotors
Caliper i bought had near new standard oem pads so re used the pads to save $$
Vents are huge compared to 120 way less fade, hopefully less warping :o

The difference is 3mm thickness from memory? You might find the bigger vents are the T3 rotors. My 120 T3 rotors are awesome compared to stock 120 rotors.

Yeah generally the rotors are the vents difference - I noticed that between different brands in the 120 Prado rotors.

I fitted the booster on the weekend. Fitted OK but:

Pushrod thread slightly too long at the pedal, pedal attachment sits about 6mm further from the back of the booster, so there is no free-play. Works fine but would be happier if I could screw it in another few threads. Problem is the thread contacts the brake pedal before the holes line up for the pin if you set it up as per original. Nothing a grinder won't fix though (on the end of the rod).

Booster is about 25mm thicker than the original, so master cylinder moves forward. One of the 3 lines that go across the firewall won't push into the retainer on the firewall (the one that comes from the block that attaches to the bracket under the master cylinder attachment bolts.

The PBR booster check valve is a looser fit than the original Hilux one, and it points at right angles to the original. So the vacuum hose, although it fits puts too much pressure on the check valve. Needs a longer bit of 11/32" vacuum hose to rectify.

Pedal feel is better, rock hard prior to engine start. Isn't as spongy as before, good braking happens further back in pedal travel now. Mine has 120 Series (TRD) front rotors and calipers though, so would be a lot harder pedal with original 2005-2015 brakes.

Good day i`ve got a bit of an issue. I have a 2015 Hilux and rotors warped twice.
Can I upgrade and install Prado rotor discs on my lux with the stock calipers?
If so which model Prado rotor discs will work and part number? Hilux has stock 18" rims.
Thanks in advance any help will be greatly appreciated.
