Hi all,

I own a 2008 Hilux KUN26 3.0 Diesel 4wd

While driving I get a pulsating noise that tends to increase frequency as speed increases, I have replaced the following parts, and I'm still on the hunt as to what it is. Video included at the bottom of this post.

- New CVs
- New Brake Pads
- New Wheel bearing (Front)
- New Rims (0 Offset)
- New Tyres (285/75/16)

Pending parts:

- Tie rods and ends
- Rear-wheel bearings (Doing so now)

Parts of Suspicion:

- Upper and lower control arms
- Sway bar and link pins

I will update this post as soon as I find and fix the noise for future reference if anyone else has this issue as for the last 2 weeks it has been driving me insane and if anyone is like me then any abnormal noise has gotta go!

UPDATE 1:
When doing downhill I can make the noise going away by pressing the brakes down about 30% of the way and can FEEL the light knocking through the pedals (Accelerator and/or Brake)

UPDATE 2:
Took the rear axels out and yep they are shanked... See if the replacement fixes the issue

FINAL UPDATE:

The issue was Rear Driver side wheel bearing

Both of them were due for a change but the driver's ones was absolutely f**ked

After 6 hours of work and pressing the lux is back to a silent smooth drive!

one of those very hard to find noises. Sounds a bit like an induction noise but that would vary with rpm.

what speed what that taken at? How are the new tyres wearing?

Definitely not an induction noise as when going downhill in natural noise is still there.

sounds like front wheel bearings but I see that you have replaced them. did you do the job or someone else?

any feedback in the brake pedal?

check the suspension bushes

None at all, Even replaced the fronts to be safe they were 250xxx ks old anyway so was due for a replacement any day now

Maybe start looking at Your tailshaft
Particular if you have a lift

Updated the top post as well, Took the rear axels out and yep they are shanked...

Those older style of bearings will do that. I upgraded mine to a post 2012 rear end.

Bearings will be pressed out and new ones in on Saturday

Will post an update then!
