fitting AT Fluid temp sensor

Hi All
Hoping to get some advice...

Im fitting a SAAS AT temperature gauge to my GGN25R 2010 Hilux.
Thought it might come with a neat little adaptor to fit inline in one of the pipes but no - just a 1/8 NPT thread sensor (with a 3/8 bush if needed), so I'm considering drilling and tapping the pan to accommodate but thought I'd ask here in case anyone has another suggestion, or knows of anyone supplying an inline adaptor with a 1/8 NPT predrilled boss ?

Do not drill the pan while it is on the box. It is too thin to tap a thread in anyway. Better off drilling and tapping the plug if it has one.

Pan temperature is of little use, it is nowhere near the hottest point. Where you want to measure is where the fluid leaves the box and goes to the cooler. This is straight after the converter. Wholesale autos supply the 90deg fitting from that point, drilled and tapped with a sender, with their gauge kit. I have compared my gauge measuring at this point with the scangauge pan temperature and the pan is often 20-30deg lower. The critical temperature is where the fluid exits the converter, you know straight away what you are doing is bad and change it! I know for example within 30s if I drive onto soft sand in 4H that I’m cooking fluid, switch to 4L and fluid temp drops very quickly. You won’t know anywhere near that fast with pan temperature.

Thanks much for the info - will get the 90deg fitting and go with that - v useful to know where to take the temp signal from.

Only problem might be getting one without buying the kit. Won’t hurt to ask though.
