Patrol diffs

Postby Yowie on Mon, 16 Nov 2020 10:33 +0000

Hey everyone,

Done a search on the forum but yielded low to nil results.
Wondering if anyone has put patrol diffs under their KUN hilux with either SAS front and coil rear or just SAS'd?

I havent been able to find info online but wondering how much wider the wheel mounting surfaces on a patrol diff are to the hilux? I have an 06 hilux so no ABS or any fancy electronics.

Cheers

Thanks mate, had a look and chat with old mate but he put a hilux on a GU chassis.

I saw a build underway down NSW with 2" long arm chaos fab front with GU rear axle so be interested to see what the final product is and what the cost is.

Dont think it would be hard to fit a H260 leaf diff under a hilux, it would just be getting the engineering side of it sorted with the ass about laws always changing state to state.

Could also try for a rear end out of a N80. Its got a much bigger diff and factory locker.

Probably easier to get a 9” made.

Got a 80 series rear diff in a custom housing in the back of mine (think it's a 9") with standard hilux axles and brakes. Worked out to be about $100 or so more than re gearing the rear to go with the SAS. There are a few guys running them that got sick of doing hilux diffs.

Will keep an eye on that idea. Would prefer to move to a full floating.
