Front wheel bearings.

How many kms are you getting out of the front wheel bearings? Are you replacing the whole hub assembly when needed? Or buying genuine bearings and pressing them on. I am looking to replace them as i have done 280k and starting to get a little noise from that area.

I generally reuse the hub and replace all of the seals etc (I have a press which is essential for this job).

Some places will sell you a prepressed hub and bearing combo. Just make sure you use genuine parts.

Haven't really heard anything good about the pre assembled ones lasting. I have access to a 50t press so should do the job[emoji23]

Can't see any problem with reusing the hub as long as it's not damaged but make certain that you use quality bearings and seals, not those cheapies made in a certain (nameless) country! Timken bearings for example and maybe genuine seals, but even genuine parts are often made in that certain country!
After 280ks the old bearings must have been good ones to last that long. Maybe they are Timken? Oops, even Timken are made in some of those nameless countries but they have a reputation to protect so the quality would be certain.

Just got quoted $205 a side for genuine bearings and seals in a kit.. so will probably just go with that.

Interesting to see if anyone checked the OEM bearings, probably marked Timken.

Scratch that! Just went back to buy some and apparently they screwed up. $128 each just for the bearings. Bursons do the complete unit for $180.

On anything with a low 'bargain' price I would suggest checking what bearings are used.

For mission critical stuff like rotors, pads and front wheel bearings, treat "Made in China" or "Made in PRC" like a hand grenade with the pin pulled. Throw it away as quick as you can. We've all seen what the Chinese Govt is trying to do at the moment to Australia, if we buy safety critical stuff off them they might end up picking us off one by one.....
