Ok, I've tried reading several threads to find the answer to this but I just haven't found one that's definite.

Can someone please confirm whether front auto lockers (lokkas) will affect 2wd driving on an SR5 (2012) equipped with an ADD? Does the ADD disconnect one or both of the half shafts?

the ADD only disconnect the left side with out 4wd selected you should not its there.
it is on every time you use 4wd if you need it or not the steering will go heaver and it will what to pull straight.

Thanks Dave. That's alright then, for the price, sounds like a good investment for a first locker

The ADD only disconnects the drivers (RHS) side front axle from the input to the diff. I've fitted a front Lokka to my Hilux with ADD and find no difference when driving in 2WD. The only negative that I note with the auto lokka is that when I use the low range 2WD button, it still loads up because the front LHS wheel is still being driven with the rear wheels. Other than that I wouldn't be without the Lokka.
Basically instead of the spider gears constantly rotating in the front diff, the whole crown wheel assembly rotates, which in my case is much smoother and quieter when driving in 2WD, but ultimately I suspect that it would use a fraction more fuel, not that it's an issue.
