Hey i just put a new cv into my ute, i got the one to suit a Lift kit, i only changed the one side and im not sure if the other side is to suit a lift. Is there going to be any issues if they are different cv shafts

I think so, otherwise they wouldn't worry about asking if i had a lift kit maybe.

Thats what it sounds like to me. Doesn't matter how much lift you have you're not moving the wheel away from the diff in any way, its still moving through the same arc unless you've put longer a arms on it? When it's lifted the suspension is just sitting in a different point in it's normal motion. It may have a little more down travel but no more than the factory shafts can handle.

CV’s to suit a lift kit?

Chances are you have been up-sold a set of heavy duty CV’s. Minimal to no difference in angle but increase in the quality of the components themselves.
Stock gear is made to a mass spec while the aftermarket industry has some serious upgrades out there.

I have a mate who went to the total extreme.
Blew CV
Upgraded CV’s
Blew stock Centre
Replaced Centre with better gear ratio for his set up.
Blew that.
Got the $h!ts and went mental. (He drives a JK so give him some credit)
Now he has swapped out to Twin DANA 60 diffs and twin Eaton E Lockers.
Now the engine is the issue [emoji12]

Moral of the story is if you keep upgrading you are just going to keep moving along the chain till you find the next weakest link in the system.
All well and good saying you got upgraded cv’s it just means the next time a failure occurs it will be deeper and more expensive.

^^^agreed. The CVs are the fuse in the system.

There has been lots of discussion about this over the years eg:

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=18468

People tried to get RCV to produce an option for the hilux but the market wasn't big enough.

I think the consensus for the strongest CV available is still the genuine toyota CV.
I might be wrong.

Yep what he said! They are the fuse! Better to break a shaft or cv than the diff!

To answer the question... if it fits, it won't affect the vehicles operation. If its too long or short than it will either bind or fall out at the inner tripod.

There is no problem with running different brand CVs, as long as they fit.
