I had mine replaced a few months ago.
After the only clutch place sorta close to me (30kms) in Bunbury, WA trying to rip me off, I ended up bringing it into a well known auto place in Wangara and they did the job for me without a problem for a good price. Did mean I had to drive almost 3 hours to get to the workshop.

Mine lasted 60.000 kms of abuse that I know off. Don't know if it got replaced in the first 60000ks of its life. And I mean abuse on beach, track, leadfoot and clutch riding :D

I am at 20,000 K's and can't say I have any issues. My thoughts... When my clutch finally does go I will replace it with a heavy duty aftermarket product, not Toyota.

I can't Bag the Toyota Clutch at all. between the first owner being NSW RFS and myself the 2nd owner we had clocked up just shy of 200,000 km on the original clutch. The only reason I replaced it was my gearbox shit itself and was out for repairs I had it changed in an attempt to save a few $$. I chose an aftermarket clutch for 'better performance & reliability' HAHA. This clutch plate now has about 20,000-30,000 kms and will be getting replacing in the near future as I believe its my main cause of the not good vibrations I'm getting and have done since it was installed.

Still on the original factory clutch. 2008 Hilux and 175,000 km. I also tow a 1.7 ton camper with 32 inch tyres.

Maybe the clutches were just bad for a couple years of production. If my clutch lasts ages in my 2014 Hilux, great.
What I would like to improve is how quick the turbo spools. I find that the turbo only kicks in just before I want to shift gears. But that wouldn't be a clutch thing, maybe my driving style or the gearbox.
Anyways, lets hope our clutches all last 200,000 K.

Make that 300ks, I'm just about to hit 200k and don't wanna be buying a new clutch.

2007 Hilux, previous owner towed a camper, I pretty much drive it empty but it has bars all round and a steel canopy on the back so a bit of weight. I even learnt to drive manual in it. It can shake a bit on heavy acceleration on take off while the clutch is still in a bit but it's been doing that pretty much since I bought it at 145k so not concerned.

Hi guys
I had a clutch replaced under warranty at 50000. Now I have 67000 and I believe it is going to go...When installed it has bigger diameter then the first one. They have also replaced all the hydraulics. The only thing left original was the foot pedal for the clutch. I do not have the right confidence in the clutch, again. And no offroad, only towing twice a year a light one town trailer.I already mentioned they replaced hand brake cables at 48000 due to uneven braking. Now for a couple of months Hilux is using a lot more fuel (2,5 lit at least per 100km), and does not accelerate properly. After me being persistent Toyota cleaned egr and inlet manifold for free (since the computer test showed everything is ok and did not know what else to do). CAris getting better fuel economy but still not pulling properly. And after this cleanup they did the tests again and found that electric motor which is regulating the turbine input is at fault. So now I am getting a new turbine, under warranty...I am affraid that after the warranty expires this will be all too expensive... I had land cruizers before and am a great Toyota lover, but this now is a bit disappointing...

Just had my 40,000km service yesterday. 2013 sr5. I thought clutch was fine, even though I have had to give it a hiding in its short life, anyway toyota service dude tells me they detected a slight shudder so they want to replace the clutch next week. (Under warranty) I can't fault my toyota service, they have been exceptional, service manager said they will be doing the whole clutch assembly and flywheel. I'm not complaining.

i just bought an excedy standard clutch to put in mine, ive done a few hiluxes before, if you are ok with a spanner and have a good set of stands and a high reaching jack you can have it done in under 5 hours, best advise if read up on how to do it a dozen times so it is in your head and have a few extension bars for the top bolts of the bellhousing, it also helps if you have a good battery rattle gun

Mine has done 307ks now and as far as Im aware its on the original clutch,it has a shudder and could do with one but drive around it and its fine... its been to the cape and back to NSW and a fair few other narly tracks... my secret is low range for most tracks saves the clutch...

I've only ever run auto's for this reason and prefer their super fast shift rates when 4wding. Never had an auto gb fail

Because autos are cheap to rebuild?
The faster shifts would be handy off road though? Hate going up a steep hill and wanting to go up a gear but it takes so long to change gear you nearly don't make it

My 4 Terrain Heavy Duty Clutch, installed about 20,000kms ago, is starting to slip. My question to the forum is how many times can you machine the flywheel? Can I do it a second time?

Cheers

Gammo

Edit, I posted on the wrong topic sorry - have reposted this on the major Clutch topic, sorry...

I've got a 2008 SR5 diesel, 255,000km and I'm still on my original clutch. I'm tossing up though, whether I change it before the Cape in a few months, as I'll be towing a camper trailer and don't want it to die up there!

Mine was on it's way out from about 80,000 got to the point you could be driving along in 4th doing 80 and put your foot down to accelerate and it would start slipping. Mine is a 2011 and one of the last before they changed the front end.

My mechanic did a complete replacement to what is essentially a landcruiser clutch. Was heading to Fraser the day after so it was a mad rush to get it done. Much much better now, All new flywheel and clutch plate. bearings and even swapped out the cable between the master and slave with the dampener to a braided line.
