A mate has told me this was posted on Facebook too and people have given a different answer.

I found my number in a workshop manual but I just checked a few of the websites I use as gotos for lubricants and they have different answers again. Take my answer with a grain of salt.

Meanwhile I have to rethink the consumables I carry for emergencies and make sure I have enough.

It depends how long it has sat for before draining. Overnight i got 4 litres out,did this 3 times to flush it.
Driving it between each time then sat over night.
You will never get it all out.

I think for traditional auto box, after you drain and refill it, you can detach one of the fluid hoses to the radiator. Start the engine, let out 1 litre of fluid and shut the engine, put in 1 litre again and repeat for 5-6 times. In doing so, you flush all the old fluid out. Also shift between PRD during the process. My camry takes about 1/2 minutes to fill one litre. A 10 mm hose from bunnings and a 1 litre bottle and an assistance to tell you to stop the engine will be very helpful.
