What's the condition of the inner race that the seal on like? Could have groove worn in it and the seal not seating properly? Sometimes you can knock thr seal in a little further or leave it out a little to get it seating on a fresh bit of shaft.

The surface of the flange where the seal sits on seemed quite good. I am a but surprised to be having this sort of issue. The car is a 2013 nov reg and has only done 70000km's.

You might have popped the spring off. I've done so before.
I might be wrong.

A little update, after driving it a little bit, over a few weeks it has stopped leaking, I was cleaning the oil leak after every drive. And no it hasn't run out of oil lol.
