Squeaking sound when clutch pressed.

I did some searching, and couldn't quite find a post with the same problem I'm having, so decided to make a new post.

Everything works fine on the pickup, only concern I have is that when I press the clutch in to change gears I hear a squeaking sound, sort of like a rusty hinge on a gate. I was told that it is probably the clutch fork, and was advised to just get under there and spray it with some lubricant, which I have done in the past, but it keeps on coming back after a week or 2. Is there anything else I can do to stop this, or will I have to order a new clutch fork and tear down the gearbox to change it?

Also, apart from it being annoying, can it cause damage? It doesn't always do it, some mornings its fine, but when it does, its very annoying.

Any help/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated 8-)

Get your grease gun
Purchase a needle adapter for the end of it!

2 person job.

Jump under the ute. Remove the flex boot out of the way so u can see the throw out bearing fork pivot point

Have your helper push the clutch peddle in.

Now with your Newley purchased grease needle. Push it into the pivot points rubber boot. Then inject grease till the boot fills.

Remove needle. Have u helper continually depress the clutch peddle to work the grease around the pivot ball. Noise will stop.

Refit the fork boot and the job is done

Simples!

Hope this helps.

I'm going to give that a try tomorrow, actually just bought a tube last week when I greased the drive shafts etc (should have thought of doing the fork too).

Will post back with results, thanks.

Thought I should follow up with an update. I finally got round to greasing the fork about 3 weeks ago, no squeaks since.

Thanks for the advice!

Boxhead for the win!!!

I had a squeak in my clutch pedal too recently, but it was under the dash. Quick spray of WD40 fixed that little annoying sound! If only the other annoying noises in the cab could be fixed just as easily.........................

hey guys, I'm pretty mechanically minded but i need a lil assistance on the above box head if i may haha, i assume the rubber boot your filling with grease is the one on what i think its the slave cylinder? the one that looks like a bicycle shock absorber rubber boot? and i should fill it with grease when someones stomping on the clutch?

if thats correct then i need a needle adapter for my grease gun haha

Nearly, but the rubber boot you are looking for is on the inside of the bell housing. Remove the rubber boot on the outside of bell housing and look inside, there under the clutch fork and you will see the rubber boot where the fork pivots. Best to take a small flash light with you makes finding it easier.

I drove around with the squeaky clutch for about 10000k. does no harm.
replaced fork and pivot ball when i installed the new clutch, old fork looked fine, was as dry as a fart though
dont squeak anymore

I wouldn't bother pulling the bellhousing just for this though, keep grease on it and it'll be fine until its due for a clutch

spewin so i was right the first time >< il have to get under there with a whole lot of light and grease haha, the cars only done 65000 it got a while to go before the clutch needs replacing and the squeaking is pretty much constant and its louder than the bloody exhaust its ridiculous haha

I know all to well of the frustration that noise causes. And it was all my fault.

Just FYI I had a loud squeak coming from the clutch under the dash, shortly before my master cylinder died and starting dripping brake fluid all over the footwell. Squeaking was actually the rubber seal perishing which allowed the clutch linkage from the pedal to move laterally and make a noise.
