front diff locks

Postby JONARTHUS on Sun, 04 May 2008 6:01 +0000

Has anyone tried or know of any information on the dana trutrac diff. I am interested in putting one in the front. All i can gather is that they refer to a 7.5 inch ifs with 2 axle choices, 1.1 and 1.3 inch diameter, both 27 spline.
I did go see the 4x4 store but was unable to get any definate answers.
thanks

I was of the impression you dont use auto locking diffs in the front end.
Can make steering a nightmare.
The guys who have a front locker use a manual (air or electric) select type.
Will happily be corrected,

People with manual lockng hubs can use a auto locker but with our hubs you would get steering probs all the tme.

Once I accidently bumped my locker switch for the front while in 2wd and thought I had two flat front tyres!!!
I have nothing good to say down here so I wont say anything at all

yeah running a locker in the front can be pretty awkward to steer

the best on the market are arb airlockers

never had a problem with any of the 2 sets that i have had
