I had a quick look under the bonnet today and found what appears to be 4 breathers from factory. Image Image I'm guessing they are front diff, ADD, transfer case, and gearbox? Is on a 2012 sr5

i found these 4 on my 2012 SR hilux today.

i fitted the 2 diff ones no worries. but the different size hose on the transfer & gearbox screwed me so im going to have to buy some other fittings.

these polyurethane hosing these kits use, chemcial / oil resistant of course. how heat resistant are they?, some of the areas in the gearbox / transfer case area can get very hot, how does this hose stand up?.

Im looking at fitting diff and gearbox breathers to my hilux. The front diff has a remotely mounted breather, the rear diff does not, and I can't find anything for the g/box or transfer case like in your pic, Trini_Hilux. Any info on where the breathers are for the g/box and transfer case would be appreciated.

I'd suggest if your going through rivers and mud it would be good insurance to have them :)

Gents, so I take it the first pic is for the front diff & ADD? This is where I use the stainless sleeve on the smaller diameter hose?

The bottom pic is for the transfer & gearbox? Looks a little tight to work there.

I got the kit from Mitch, thanks mate. I'll be fitting it up soon but just want to confirm the above.

Also, the rear diff doesn't have an extended breather. Toyota have just put a breather cap on the rear diff itself.

I want to fit extended breathers to my 06 dual cab and was thinking about simply clamping hose to the existing ones and routing them up into the engine bay. Has anyone done this? There seem to be a lot of people tapping out the existing holes, but as a fitter I am concerned about the metal particles falling into the diff or gearbox and causing other issues.

The front diff and ADD are both simply extended to a higher point and a filter added. The rear is not tapped, it's as simple as screwing out the old breather and screwing in the new fitting to fit the hose to, this is taken upto the same point as the front breather along with another filter. ;)

Thanks, I'll try and check it all out this weekend. I've been doing so many other things in prep for our cape trip and this is just another on my list to still do.

I can only find 1 breather on my 06 SR near the fuel filter which appears to be from the front diff. Is this the only one on my model, or did they put another on and I have to dig around to find it?
