Has anyone had a CV Boot come loose?

Postby GregSR on Tue, 29 Apr 2008 7:34 +0000

Hi all,

Just wondering, has anyone had a cv boot come loose? On Fraser on the weekend between Central Station and Happy Valley, about 40 k's and not particularly rough, the drivers side cv boot came loose.
No obvious damage to the boot or the clip.
Car has no real high lift, EFS med coils probably settled at 30mm.
We refitted it and it has held for 400 k's.
I am going to try Toyota on for warranty, for it to "fall off" like it did I reckon it must not have been fitted correctly.

Any experience or thoughts?

make sure you get rid of all traces of sand from underneath. Some maufacturers will try end escape warranty if they see sand anywhere.

Thanks Rod,
Easier said than done though, the sand gets in everywhere.
I don't hold much hope on the warranty claim but it's worth a go.
I can't honestly see how a properly fitted boot could fall off?
I've never heard of it before.
Having said that, if the clip were properly tensioned, surely we shouldn't have been able to refit.
Anyway, time will tell.
