Hi Benny,
I actually just noticed the same thing with mine the other day. It's only a slight noise and is gone once it's all warmed up.
I think I will be mentioning it to the dealer when it goes in for the next service.

Guy's, I'm onto my 3rd clutch bearing in 20,000Km !! (started at 40k, now at 60)
Mine started off as quiet, only at warm up, but slowly got worse till it wails !!
Toyota still scratching their head as to what is causing it. Foreman at my dealership reckons this is the first model not to have a spring on the bearing and thinks it may not be retracting properly. He's sent a product report to Toyota, and is meeting with them at end of the month. Mine squeals terribly at the moment - get looks from other cars when I'm stopped at lights !! :(

I have exactly the same fault (noisy thrust bearing) when the car is cold. Asked the dealer about it & they said it was a dry actuating fork. They lubricated it & the noise has gone. My 07 lux has just had 30 k service. I'll just have to wait & see what happens.

I had my release bearing replaced at 12,500kms. It sounded like there was a little bird chirping under the car. It started off quite but got worse and worse. The dealership replaced the whole clutch for me all under warranty.

Cheers

Same here.
Toyota replaced my entire clutch at 50000 after 20000km of me complaining. What do you know, it started again 25000 into the replacement clutch. I'm at 115000kms now still arguing for another replacement clutch as the noise is an embarassment....

Had the clutch changed under warranty at around 18000km (I think), then again at around 40000km, and had the thrust bearing replaced again at about 55000km.

i have the same peoblem with mine and i have 45,000km on it and i called my local dealer today and he has talked to some random that might know what im talking about, but even he said he has not heard of such a thing before.

they are thinking of not doing under warranty as i am the second owner, which is crap.

Hey Maca, do you think its possible to get that dealer's number, as the dealer here in brisbane asked if he could get a more of an understanding of what the problem is.

Clutch gone at 18,000kms Dealer has said "thrust is noisy but we are going to replace the clutch while we are at it". Toyota must be aware of this issue . I drove another brand 4 x 4 for 220,000 on the same clutch and that was towing a horse float every weekend .
What Gives.

Well I noticed yesterday that my clutch is now slipping when under load. Has anyone had any dramas getting clutches replaced under warranty?
Mine's only done about 50000.

There is but they are expensive approx $1100 plus labour i think , Excedy or safari brand , but if you put one in Toyota will kiss any warranty goodbye, i am putting one in when warranty runs out

Dropped my car off at Toyota last night and was told there was a question mark next to the warranty issue, because I may have abused the clutch.
I thought, here we go, sounds like they were going to try and get out of replacing anything.

Well I was very surprised today when the dealer gave me a call and told me they had replaced the clutch, throw out bearing and machined the flywheel all under warranty, without any further questions asked. Very happy and picking up the ute tonight.

Cheers

Mine goes in next Thursday for a new clutch. Done 40000, noisy as hell on hill starts, taking off from the lights with trailer on, etc. Was told yeah we're replacing the clutch for you, but oh it may not be covered under warranty, you've got a 20% chance of it being covered? I'm confused

Kanga
don't take it, just tell them warranty , Toyota must know it's an issue by now, 1 to 100,000k's is pathetic for a clutch to give in the ghost, my old 4x4 did 220,000 on one clutch
p.s. since my clutch was done it is different even from new, better now then ever
don't back down

Hilux went in for it's 50,000 k service today.

Ours is having a clutch done too, there is a new clutch design coming out next month under warranty.

Ours also has the rattle, Toyota dealer said it pretty normal but they want answers from Toyota why.

We do work for the Toyota dealers so we get along very well with them.

Mine has done done 42000k's and took it to the dealer for clutch bearing noise, clutch shudder and 5th gear whine.
They put a new clutch in and after stripping the box down they found the gearbox mainshaft had a lot of wear, so they put a new gearbox in too. Hope this one lasts a bit longer this time round.
